Alexander McQueen Fall 2011

Sarah Burton is doing an amazing job channeling McQueen. The Fall 2011 collection was unveiled at the Conciergerie, which was the antechamber to the guillotine during the French Revolution, holding thousands of prisoners, including Marie Antoinette. It was also the location of one of McQueen's most memorable shows, where live wolves walked the runway. What starts off with very dark and armour-like pieces, ends with beautiful flowing snow white dresses. The palette is strictly black, grey and white (with a hint of lavender) and there are many different fabrics sewn wonderfully together. The word 'powerful' definitely comes to mind with the first half and then 'Ice Queen' for the remainder. I just can't get over how much this collection carries on with McQueen's visions and spirit.
